domain name and web hosting help please?

Posted by admin | Domainhosting | Monday 30 January 2012 2:10 pm

I registered a domain from godaddy, but found the hosting to be a bit expensive, shopped around and found that I would like to host with Ipage. So signed up for a hosting plan, and then I thought I could just transfer the domain. Apparently I have to wait for the domain to be 60 days old?? So what should I do, I need this done withing 2 weeks for my final project for college. Should I get a refund from Ipage and have to host with godaddy?

Can’t access Yahoo web hosting email — Yahoo not helpful. HELP!?

Posted by admin | Email Hosting | Thursday 12 January 2012 2:21 pm

I have two business web sites that I pay for monthly through Yahoo Web Hosting. I also have a regular Yahoo email address. As of last week, when I logged into my Yahoo account, I could click on links to my two web hosting email accounts to get to my Inbox for those accounts.

Last week, when logging into my regular account, I was told my password didn’t work (I’ve had this password for a long time with no problems). So I changed my password (I had to do it twice until it worked) and am now able to get into my regular email, but when I click on the Web Hosting email links, I am prompted for my regular Yahoo password, but my password doesn’t work and I am locked out of all mail. I have to open a new browser window to get back into my regular email.

I tried contacting Yahoo about it twice. They just keep saying they know about the problem and their engineers are working on it. It has been more than one week since I could check business mail! Any suggestions?

Posted by admin | Domainhosting | Wednesday 4 January 2012 2:04 pm

I am in the process of making a website and I have no clue about it. I figured by researching that I have to buy a domain name, buy hosting services in order to launch a website. I have seen few website offering domain name, hosting service, website template and free add ons such as advertising vouchers for google, facebook etc.

hostgator.com
mrsite
moonfruit
justhost
Web Hosting & Domain Names by FatCow.com
HostMonster – Web Hosting
Web hosting provider – Bluehost.com
Green Web Hosting from HostPapa, UK?s Top Web Hosting Provider.

I am confused which one to go for as I think getting it all in one package will be easier for me to manage. I will be selling ladies clothing on my website so I want the checkout and paypal. Preferrably I also want to accept cards but I don’t know how to get that feature on the website.

Can you techy people please look into my different options and choose for me as which one to go for. I will be selling four different kind of clothing so I don’t really want high tect-long website. Just simple and easy to use. Some of them are American companies from the above list. If you have any other suggestions for different companies then let me know.

Yahoo web hosting & email question…Please help :-)?

Posted by admin | Email Hosting | Monday 19 December 2011 2:05 pm

I am using yahoo web hosting starter edition. It comes with 1000 email address & the like. Is there a way to let my members create & view their email accounts directly from my site without logging into yahoo, So it looks like we are using our own server? If not how would I set up a server within my site to accomplish it so my members never have to leave my site to create an account or check email? Any ideas?
-thanks in advance.

Who wants to help create a social networking site?

Posted by admin | Managed Webhosting | Thursday 24 November 2011 2:52 pm

Hi everyone, I have been thinking about this long and hard and I have decided I would like to create a Social Networking Site, but I don’t know where to start. I have the code and the files, but I don’t know how to apply them and get the website to work. If anyone knows how, I would love to make this site a partnership and we will manage the site 50/50. All you have to do is help get the site up and running and then we will be the owners and hopefully it will grow. And, at first I would prefer a free web host until the site is getting really busy, then we can upgrade if we need to. Let me know if you are interested, I need someone with PHP experience and all of the code you need for these types of sites. Thanks.

Can somebody PLEASE help me? (Webcomic/Weebly.com/Hosting Related)?

Posted by admin | Managed Webhosting | Friday 21 October 2011 2:57 pm

Okay. So, I started really getting into webcomics. I’ve always been a bit of a cartoonist, so I figured I’d start one of my own. Simple enough idea, right?

When I had that idea a month and a half ago, I never would have imagined the kind of brutal, mortifying confusion trying to do this has brought me.

I have photoshop. I have the artistic skill. I’m just apparently an imbecile when it comes to HTML/anything having to do with web hosting. Seriously, damn. I used to think I was a pretty smart dude. But this makes me feel no wiser than a four year old.

Here’s where I am right now;

-I’ve created a domain name. Purchased it and everything.
-Currently, that domain is being hosted through weebly.com. The current weebly site for it holds absolutely nothing, it’s totally blank. Because I don’t understand weebly at all. I think it looks mediocre, and I don’t think you can use it to do what I want to do.
- I’ve followed a few basic youtube tutorials, and I’ve managed to create a banner for the comic in photoshop (“Home”, “About”, “Archive”, etc, buttons are on the banner), and I’ve spliced it up and saved it all so that if I drag the HTML file from my desktop to a web browser, the banner shows up. I even learned how to make the links clickable. Even though they don’t take you anywhere when you click them.

Now I’m so confused. I don’t know what to do next. Since weebly was super confusing, and I feel like I made more progress doing my own thing with the html banner page, I thought maybe I’d try to host the site myself? But then I read about how much of a bad idea that is, and you need like some psychotically large amount of bandwith and I don’t even know what else.

I’m stuck. But I’m not giving up.

I’m on a Mac. I have Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver.

Can somebody please, please help? :(
