If I’m going to have a site with large file downloads-should I get shared, VPS, reseller, or dedicated hosting?
Basically, I’ll be having a site that will have around 5-6 large file video downloads….would shared hosting work for this?

This free video tutorial has parts 1-8 and it will help you figure out how to get shared hosting at Godaddy for your online business or other website. Many topics are covered to give you the big picture and fill in all the little blanks that you might be unsure of. Covers also a review of shared, virtual private server, and dedicated hosting. Godaddy shared hosting is good for beginners.
What I mean is…at Mediatemple.net with their (gs) Grid-Service plan, they only allow 1,000 GPUs and if you go over (instead of getting banned) you have to pay more
and I think “banning” was the wrong to use…I meant “suspending”, like how some sites suspend you for a day or more if you happen to get on the front page of Digg.com
Hi,
I hosted with squarebrothers.com and series of problems haunted me and my website. I wanted to transfer to net4.in but online reviews are reminding me my past horrible experience. These are for static portfolio websites I guess.
I run a daily updated blog that grows rapidly in both size and number of unique visitors.
I run a wordpress blog with at least 2500 unique page views.
I don’t want to have any problems like “bandwidth exceeded” or “CPU resource abuse” or anything else
Can anyone recommend a shared linux hosting service?
money doesn’t matter much
Do I need to go to VPS or dedicated server otherwise?
I invite all recommendations with any plan of web hosting though I prefer Indian company. Do I need to host with US companies for shared or VPS or dedicated server palns? any recommendations on which company?
I am standing with just backup, I don’t want to end up like this again so please help me if you know a hosting company with very good customer support.
Thanks in advance

Recently, I have been using Godaddy. I mainly like them, except for their one undocumented limitation on CPU usage which interferes with a script that I have recently created, so I’m looking for a new host.
Here are my requirements:
1. I must be able to modify PHP settings, in specific, max_execution_time
2. It must be SHARED hosting, not VPS, which will be my last resort
3. It must not have a CPU limitation, or at least be more reasonable than Godaddy’s (max CPU allotted for 20s before the script is cut off)
So, are there any hosting companies out there that have these characteristics? I really don’t want to have to pay for a VPS =/
Thanks!
I’m fairly new with choosing web hosts on the web and as a web designer, I’m having various clients in different hosting services, some better or worse than others but they become difficult for me to handle.
I was thinking about using 1 account on a clustered/grid servers to manage all websites at once, but I’m unsure of how I’ll be able to sort out the domain names or if I’ll only be able to use one.
If I’m only able to ensue 1 domain name, can you please refer me to a host/service that could help me?
P.S. The hosts I was looking at were myriadnetwork and mediatemple.

I’m currently on shared and would like to get more control over my host so that I can install various software and increase the functionality of my site. Faster db queries and whatnot with dedicated resources would be a nice plus!
My problem is I don’t have the traffic or resources to justify a dedicated box. I’m wondering if a VPS or virtualized host would be a good interim solution. This should definitely allow me to install my software, but I’m wondering if the performance would be any better with a relatively small virtual slice (256MB dedicated ram and a small chunk of the CPU reserved).
